Job description
We are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team. By joining us, you'll be part of a leading company that is shaping the future of hybrid transmission technology.
About the role
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding the development of electric motors from design concept into product launch, including electromagnetic design, mechanical design, and thermal analysis. This role involves coordinating the release of designs, obtaining design approvals, ensuring manufacturability, component readiness, tracking piece costs, investments, and mass, supporting future design directions, and leading resolution of component issues.
Key responsibilities
Design, develop, and release electric motors for Electric Vehicles (EV), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV).
Guide the engineering development of electric motors from concept to product launch, including electromagnetic design, mechanical design, and thermal analysis.
Coordinate design releases and approvals, ensuring manufacturability, component readiness, cost tracking, investment control, and mass optimization, while supporting future product design directions.
Lead and manage design changes throughout the product development lifecycle, including Product Development (PD), Change Requests (CRs), Change Notices (CNs), Global Issue Management (GIMs), Forever Requests (FRs), Interim Approval Authorization (IAA), and APQP quality gate processes.
Support supplier quality assurance activities and warranty issue resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Job requirements
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering field.
Proactive self-starter with strong leadership potential, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Solid understanding of engineering theory and design principles, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Nice to Have:
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification.
1+ year of engineering experience and design release experience.
Understanding of electric motor operation, design, manufacturing, testing, and development.
Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Familiarity with design reviews, engineering change management processes, and problem-tracking systems.
