About the role

As a VeroTech consultant, you contribute to next-generation Earth Observation data processing solutions. You work across mission preparation, payload specification and operational processing chains for optical, TIR and SAR missions.

Your role combines scientific expertise with software development to turn raw satellite observations into reliable, analysis-ready information products. You collaborate with researchers, software engineers, system engineers, business developers and external partners in an interdisciplinary environment focused on innovation and knowledge sharing.

Key responsibilities

  • Define Earth Observation products with customers, business developers and system engineers, aligned with application needs and mission objectives

  • Translate user requirements into technical specifications for image processing algorithms and operational data products

  • Assess future satellite mission concepts from a downstream data processing perspective

  • Develop and maintain processing workflows that generate calibrated, geometrically corrected and analysis-ready satellite products

  • Improve algorithms for geometric and radiometric processing, atmospheric correction, cloud masking and higher-level information products

Job requirements

What we're looking for

You combine scientific insight, software development skills and a strong interest in operational Earth Observation solutions. You work independently and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Master's degree or PhD in Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or a related field

  • Solid understanding of optical and SAR Earth Observation, remote sensing principles and satellite image processing from raw data and Level 0 to Level 1 and Level 2

  • Strong experience developing image processing algorithms for satellite or airborne imagery

  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience using scientific and geospatial libraries such as NumPy, Xarray, GDAL or Rasterio

  • NATO security clearance is expected and forms part of the onboarding process

Languages

Excellent communication skills in English are required, including the ability to explain technical concepts to colleagues and customers with different backgrounds.
