Design mechanical enclosures and integrate advanced cooling solutions for high‑tech measurement and radar systems with VeroTech!

Job description

We are looking for a driven Electromechanical Design Engineer to strengthen the team. As a specialist, you will work on the development of mechanical housings for advanced measurement systems and radar systems.

About the role

As an Electromechanical Design Engineer, you are going to design mechanical housings for high‑tech measurement and radar systems in a Belgian top engineering company, while relying on your proven know-how of electronics and practical experience in mechanical design and integration.

Key responsibilities

  • Design high‑performance mechanical enclosures for cutting‑edge measurement and radar systems, using optimized COTS 19” housings or fully custom‑engineered solutions.

  • Integrate advanced cooling, RF shielding, and interface panels, ensuring reliable operation and a clean, professional system architecture.

  • Collaborate closely with system and hardware engineers on connector layout, thermal management, mounting, ventilation, cabling, and EMC, delivering designs that are both technically robust and easy to assemble and maintain.

  • Create and validate precise STEP models from component datasheets, supporting smooth integration and high‑quality manufacturing.

  • Guarantee strong thermal performance, EMC/RF protection, and mechanical durability against vibration and shock for mobile and transportable systems.

  • Apply DFM/DFA best practices (sheet metal, CNC, precision machining, surface treatments) to achieve repeatable, cost‑efficient, and production‑ready designs.

  • Manage and align suppliers for enclosures and mechanical parts, balancing manufacturability, cost, and quality to deliver reliable components.

  • Oversee large mechanical assemblies developed by external partners (e.g., radar antenna structures), define technical requirements, monitor progress, and ensure successful final acceptance.

Job requirements

What we're looking for

  • Master’s degree in Electromechanics or Electronics, paired with experience in mechanical design and integration of electronics components in small and large-scale systems.

  • Being proficient in EMC and RF shielding for better assembly and maintenance is a must. Knowledge of the Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFA) principles was present throughout your entire career.

  • You think in terms of manufacturing, assembly, cooling, wiring, and real‑world feasibility.

  • Use Autodesk Inventor to create precise, functional 3D models, as well as optimisation of the current interface.

  • Fluent in English or in Dutch.
