Embedded Software Architect

As an Embedded Software Architect, the role focuses on specifying, designing, developing, validating, and testing embedded software for innovative systems in a high-tech environment. The position involves contributing to advanced tools and technologies while supporting multiple projects, requiring strong planning and organizational skills.

About the role

Your expertise will guide the design and development of software architecture for embedded systems, ensuring stability and integration across various lifecycle phases.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the architecture of advanced embedded systems across the full lifecycle.

• Lead technical innovation through architecture studies and strategic design choices.

• Provide leadership and collaborate with skilled teams on hardware–software integration.

• Work on diverse platforms: microprocessors, bare-metal, and Linux RTOS.

• Solve real-time challenges like multi-threading, memory concurrency, and high-speed communications.

• Use advanced debugging tools (oscilloscopes, debug probes) to ensure system reliability.

• Engage with stakeholders and customers, defending and presenting architectural decisions.

• Contribute directly to system validation for cutting-edge embedded solutions.

What we're looking for

We seek a professional with:

• A Master’s degree in electronics or embedded software.

• At least 10 years of experience in software development and proven experience as an architect.

• Openness to travel outside of Belgium.

• Broad software knowledge, from Linux (kernel, device drivers) to C & C++.

• Experience in software development for mechatronics systems, networking, cybersecurity, and video.

• Proficiency in French and English, with expertise in embedded software.
