About the role

As an FPGA designer, Space you develop, implement and validate VHDL logic and embedded software for advanced equipment and instrumentation. You translate system requirements into robust, testable designs with strong attention to performance, maintainability and traceability.

You work closely with electronic engineers, FPGA architects and fellow FPGA designers on hardware/software co-design, simulation, verification and integration. Your contribution supports functional subsystems where quality, documentation and reliable validation on real hardware are essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement IP cores, VHDL code and embedded software according to project requirements

  • Develop and maintain test benches, integration scripts and simulation environments

  • Verify FPGA designs through simulation, Continuous Integration tools and validation on actual hardware

  • Perform synthesis, place-and-route activities and post-layout verification for different FPGA devices

  • Conduct core, module and board tests, including static and dynamic timing checks and design rule checks

  • Support hardware/software co-design and troubleshooting during integration and testing

  • Document code and design work clearly to ensure traceability, quality and knowledge sharing

Job requirements

What we're looking for

We are looking for a hands-on FPGA professional with strong VHDL expertise, solid electronics knowledge and a collaborative mindset for technically demanding development and validation work.

  • Master’s degree in electronics engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Working knowledge of microelectronics and electronics is required

  • Experience with VHDL and familiarity with Python

  • Hands-on experience in FPGA design, development and testing

  • Experience with ESA practices and FPGA standards ECSS is an asset

  • Proactive, result-oriented team player with strong planning, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Fluency in English
