Mechanical Design Engineer – Hydrogen & Steam Applications

About the role

Are you passionate about mechanical design and eager to work on breakthrough industrial technologies? We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic R&D-driven team focused on developing and optimizing next-generation compression systems. From initial concepts to production-ready solutions, you’ll lead the design process and bring innovative ideas to life.

Key responsibilities:

• Create and own 3D models and technical drawings for advanced mechanical systems

• Develop cost-effective, manufacturable designs in close collaboration with suppliers and sourcing teams

• Support the entire design lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to serial production

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including R&D, testing, CFD, and structural engineering to deliver high-performance designs

• Mentor and guide junior designers and actively participate in design reviews and hands-on prototyping feedback

• Apply GD&T principles and industry standards to ensure quality and manufacturability

• Incorporate design for manufacturing (DFM) best practices throughout development

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer ready to innovate in a multidisciplinary environment. Here's what we need:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent by experience

• Strong knowledge of mechanical components, fastening techniques, and design standards (ISO/DIN)

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, casting, additive manufacturing)

• Broad material expertise: metals, plastics, and composites

• Solid understanding of GD&T principles

• Experience with 3D CAD tools (CATIA preferred) and PLM systems (Enovia is a plus)

• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus

• Abstract thinker with a practical, problem-solving mindset

• Team player with initiative, curiosity, and precision
