About the role

As an IT Infrastructure (Solution) Architect, you'll play a pivotal role in bridging technical teams and business stakeholders. You'll lead infrastructure intake processes, assess hosting requirements, and design tailored IT architecture solutions that align with business needs, Elia standards, and evolving technologies. With a hands-on approach and strategic mindset, you'll ensure that each new request is translated into a viable, secure, and scalable solution.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the single point of contact for new infrastructure demands between the Server Team, IT departments, and business partners.

• Conduct technical intake and demand analysis for new IT projects.

• Propose architecture and hosting solutions (on-premises/cloud) that match standards, performance, and cost-efficiency.

• Collaborate with IT domain experts to design and validate infrastructure solutions.

• Advise on data exchange platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, Redis), containerized environments, and hybrid hosting options (including Azure).

• Monitor and advise on environments with specific compliance and regulatory requirements.

• Support decision-making for the IT Operations department.

• Ensure solutions comply with Elia’s IT standards or propose adjustments when necessary.

• Stay up to date on evolving IT infrastructure technologies and security requirements.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a proactive and experienced architect who thrives in complex IT environments and has a solid track record of delivering robust infrastructure solutions.
Here’s what you’ll bring:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience as an Infrastructure or Solution Architect (references required).

• Strong expertise with infrastructure services:

  • Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux RedHat

  • Databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MongoDB)

  • Virtualization (VMware ESX), Storage solutions

  • Azure Cloud (IaaS/PaaS), Networking concepts

  • RDP solutions (Citrix), Container platforms

  • Data platforms: RabbitMQ, Redis cache

• Language proficiency: Fluent in Dutch or French (one must be native), and English (professional level); German is a plus.

• Degree in Computer Science, Systems Integration, or similar field.

• Broad IT knowledge across infrastructure, security, and operational systems.

• Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills—adaptable to all audiences.

• Security-aware mindset and solution-oriented attitude.

• Must be independent, accountable, and flexible—this is not a 9-to-5 role.

• Valid driver’s license, car, and mobile phone required.
