Layout Design Engineer

About the role

Step into an exciting opportunity where you will engage with cutting-edge exploratory technologies lacking standard PDKs, making adaptability key. Your main challenge will be to understand and navigate the intricate relationship between design/geometry, devices, and fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Gather requirements and technical specifications from fabrication, characterization, and application experts.

• Collaborate with researchers to define the necessary Design of Experiments (DoE) for projects or tape-outs, and determine the structures required for high-quality fabrication, such as lithography marks and thickness measurement structures.

• Design, review, and optimize the mask set layout to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.

• Coordinate mask ordering and ensure timely delivery to fabrication teams.

• Develop comprehensive test plans and prepare testing files in close collaboration with the characterization engineer.

What we're looking for

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

• Basic understanding of microfabrication techniques, such as deposition, etching, and lithography. Insight into electrical systems is a plus.

• Experience with design software like KLayout or Cadence. Programming skills, particularly in Python, are advantageous, as some designs can be created more efficiently through code.

• Assertive and communicative, able to effectively gather input from all stakeholders—interaction and collaboration are key to achieving the best designs.

• Structured and organized in executing and documenting work, ensuring that design information is easily reviewed by stakeholders and collaborators, and serves as a reference for future projects.
