Research Engineer Industrial IoT System Architect

VeroTech is looking for a Research Engineer Industrial IoT System Architect!

About the role

As a Research Engineer in Industrial IoT, software architecture, and system integration, you will contribute to the development of smart production environments. Working within an interdisciplinary team, your focus will be on capturing and documenting digitalization requirements, designing software and system architectures, implementing proof-of-concepts, and exploring new digitalization technologies and methodologies in partnership with industrial partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop software prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility and added value of digitalization in an industrial context using modern IIoT technologies, including edge/cloud integrations and messaging protocols like MQTT/OPC-UA.

• Investigate new methods and architectures to connect production systems, operator support systems, robots, and mobile platforms with AI algorithms via cloud or edge solutions.

• Interconnect and expand industrial IT platforms (MES, ERP, LIMS, PLM, MOM) where necessary with custom-developed modules.

• Design, build, and functionally test the complete software and system architecture on internal and external infrastructure.

• Define new project proposals and work packages in collaboration with industrial partners and actively contribute to the valorization of research results.

What we're looking for

• Strong knowledge of IoT technologies and cloud/edge computing.

• Experience with messaging protocols such as MQTT/OPC-UA.

• Skills in industrial IT platforms integration and expansion.

• Proven ability to design and test software architectures.

• The capability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
