Project Leader – Tooling & Digitalisation Program

We are seeking a seasoned Project Leader to drive strategic digital transformation initiatives within the automotive and railway sector. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of multiple software development projects focused on supporting the ETCS roll-out through innovative tooling solutions. You will play a key role in integrating new digital tools into existing operational frameworks, managing scope, budget, and planning while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Collaborating closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of mobility through smart, efficient, and scalable solutions.

About the role

As a Project Leader, you'll take charge of several high-impact software development projects within the Tooling investment program supporting the digitalisation of the ETCS roll-out. You’ll coordinate end-to-end delivery—from study to commissioning—ensuring scope, budget, and planning are managed to perfection. You’ll drive innovation through the development and integration of supporting tools into existing processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multiple projects across all phases: study, execution, delivery, commissioning

  • Define and monitor total, annual, and sub-budgets

  • Develop and manage global and detailed planning considering resources, deadlines, and financial constraints

  • Identify and mitigate safety, planning, and budget-related risks

  • Organize and lead internal and external coordination meetings

  • Report regularly to the Program Manager and management on project evolution

  • Contribute to process mapping and propose improvements with support from the PMO

  • Share knowledge and promote best practices across departments

Job requirements

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a motivated leader with a passion for recruitment and team management. Here’s what we need:

  • Requirements – What we’re looking for

    • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or similar

    • 10–14 years of relevant experience

    • Minimum 5 years in software project management, preferably in Agile environments

    • PMP (PMBOK/PMI) certification required

    • Proven experience in managing ETCS (signalling) related projects (3+ years)

    • Knowledge of CENELEC EN50128 is essential

    • Experience in Functional Safety regulated environments is a plus

    • Strong operational knowledge of Dutch or French, and fluent technical English
