Purchasing Specialist

About the role

As a Purchasing Specialist, you support product and program development from the earliest phases by providing cost benchmarks, supplier insights and indicative quotations. You collaborate closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to enable prototype builds, concept validation and new product introductions, while identifying new suppliers, technologies and sourcing opportunities to ensure competitive and innovative solutions from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Early-Phase Costing & Supplier Support: Prepare cost benchmarks, indicative quotes, and supplier input for RFQs; evaluate feasibility and perform cost modeling.

• Prototype & New Product Development: Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure technical compliance, quality, and feasibility of prototypes and new concepts.

• Supplier Scouting & Prototype Sourcing: Identify and qualify new suppliers and technologies, perform risk assessments, and align sourcing strategies with long-term goals.

• Decision-Making & Collaboration: Recommend suppliers, validate quotes, place prototype orders, and maintain clear communication with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar; MBA is a plus,

• A previous experience aligned with the responsibilities (operational purchasing, RFQ’s, cost modelling, supplier scouting,…)

• Strong knowledge of Office, SAP, and AI tools,

• Analytical, results-driven, proactive, customer-oriented, with strong negotiation skills and an innovative mindset,

• Team player with excellent communication skills; able to work independently, structured, and detail-oriented,

• Fluent in English (Dutch is an asset),

• Willing to travel 1 day/week (supplier visits, industry events, pre-sales activities).
