About the role

As an R&D Project Manager, you drive advanced research projects in computing systems and computer architecture. Working at the intersection of technology, research and project leadership, you coordinate multidisciplinary teams and help transform innovative ideas into successful project outcomes.

In close collaboration with researchers, technical leads and customers, you align technical objectives, priorities and resources to ensure successful project delivery in a complex matrix environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine project leadership with cutting-edge research in computer architecture, system simulation and advanced computing technologies, while working alongside internationally recognised experts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of complex R&D projects by defining project scope, milestones, deliverables, resource needs and dependencies.

• Collaborate with technical leads and stakeholders to balance customer requirements, research objectives and organizational priorities.

• Establish effective project governance, including meeting cadences, reporting structures, documentation standards and communication plans.

• Monitor project performance and execution through milestone tracking, resource planning, deliverable management and progress reporting.

• Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, and escalate critical topics when required.

• Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders within a matrix organization.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize work methods, business processes and project management practices.

• Contribute to the evolution of project management methodologies, tools and best practices across the organization.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a project manager with a strong academic background and proven experience in delivering and changing complex projects. You combine structure, stakeholder management and a customer-focused, result-oriented mindset in a matrix organisation.

• A master’s degree, preferably in computer architecture or engineering, is required

• Extensive track record in project management, change management and project delivery

• Knowledge of computer architectures, instruction set architectures, system simulation such as gem5 and SST, and system performance modelling is valued

• You enjoy building strong internal and external relationships and bring a clear customer focus

• You are result-oriented and able to function in a matrix organisation while interacting with multiple stakeholders
