Job description

Join VeroTech as an R&D vision application engineer and become part of our community where innovation and people come first. You’ll take on exciting technical challenges and develop your expertise while creating solutions that drive progress across several industries.

About the role

As an R&D vision application engineer at VeroTech, you work on hands-on inspection and metrology applications for advanced vision systems. You analyse customer-specific requests, evaluate image acquisition setups and define pragmatic solutions that balance performance, throughput and expectations.

You collaborate with software, hardware, optics and deep-learning specialists on larger developments while independently handling clearly scoped application work. Your contribution helps transform experiments and proof-of-concept results into well-documented, technically feasible implementations.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse inspection and metrology requests, identify root causes and define pragmatic technical solutions

  • Configure and evaluate vision applications on existing systems, including image acquisition, illumination, optics and inspection algorithms

  • Test and validate solutions with customer samples and machine data while balancing detection performance, throughput and expectations

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, optics and deep-learning teams on larger developments

  • Contribute to the evaluation of deep-learning use cases for defect detection and proof-of-concept demonstrations

  • Support the transition from proof of concept to implementation by documenting scope, supported applications, performance commitments and open technical questions

  • Improve internal workflows through prototyping, scripting, automation and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools

Job requirements

What we're looking for

  • Master’s degree in engineering, physics, electronics, optics, computer vision or a related field

  • Solid foundation in image processing, including filters, histograms, profiles, edge detection and defect analysis

  • Basic knowledge of electronics, illumination, cameras and optics, with interest in their impact on inspection results

  • Programming experience, preferably in Python; experience with C/C++, Matlab or similar tools is a plus

  • Hands-on mindset with interest in working with real samples, configuring machines, reviewing images and testing ideas through experiments

  • Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently on clearly scoped requests and involve the right experts when needed

  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to adapt technical depth to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Interest in AI and deep learning as practical tools for improving inspection performance

  • Flexibility for occasional travel when needed
