RF Characterization Expert

About the role

As a Characterization Expert, you will lead the spectral and advanced modulator characterization of photonic circuits, supporting large-scale research projects aimed at technological breakthroughs. Your contributions will be critical in pushing the boundaries of qubit control using photonics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform spectral characterization of passive photonic components, including waveguides, gratings, and ring resonators.

• Conduct advanced modulator characterization, measuring key parameters such as VpiL, rise and fall times using pulsed RF signals and oscilloscopes, and S11/S21 scattering parameters.

• Analyze sideband generation through heterodyne detection techniques.

• Carry out phase noise characterization and extract the modulator-induced noise contribution.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a proven expert with experience in RF probing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs).

• Extensive experience with vertical/horizontal coupling and spectral characterization.

• Proficiency with VNA and RF probing for S11/S21 measurements and phase noise analysis.

• Strong skills in setup automation using Python and handling of RF-related equipment.

• Ability to generate detailed reports and communicate technical data effectively.

• Self-motivated to manage lab operations and coordinate with equipment manufacturers.
