Job description

The Engineering Expertise Secondary Systems department is responsible for defining the standards to be applied in infrastructure projects. These standards cover the electrical equipment for protection systems, control systems, automation, and measurement in the high-voltage installations of the electricity grid.

About the role

You play a key role in defining the technical requirements for the protection, automation, and control of high-voltage substations. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on the analysis of tenders and market allocation.

Key responsibilities

  • Defining the technical requirements for the secondary systems (protection, automation, and control) of high-voltage substations based on concept notes, and participating in multidisciplinary teams for tender analysis and market allocation.

  • Managing framework agreements, including the processes between our client and suppliers for equipment development and acceptance testing.

  • Drafting technical standards and solutions based on concept notes and guidelines for application.

  • Providing support and technical advice to project teams.

  • Designing and delivering technical training to operational entities.

Job requirements

What we're looking for

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.

  • Strong affinity with electrical engineering and motivated to build deep technical expertise.

  • Pragmatic, customer- and results-oriented mindset.

  • Hands-on and willing to work on-site in collaboration with operational teams.

  • Team player with strong communication and persuasion skills.

  • Analytical and structured, able to explain complex topics clearly (oral and written).

  • Independent, proactive, organized, and quality-focused.

  • Fluent in Dutch or French, with good English skills; willing to learn the second national language.

Assets:

  • Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD/EPLAN, PLC programming.

  • Knowledge of low-voltage protections and IEC 61850.

  • Several years of relevant experience
