Senior Category Manager

About the role

As Category Manager, you develop and implement category strategies to drive cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability. You collaborate with global stakeholders and project teams to deliver optimal solutions and promote best practices. Reporting to the Lead Category Manager, you lead a team of Category and Operational Buyers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop & execute category strategy to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency

• Manage stakeholder relationships across the organization

• Lead and coach a team of Category Buyers and Operational Buyers to ensure high-quality procurement execution

• Handle high-value and critical purchases, including spot buys and framework agreements

• Track performance & KPIs and ensure clear reporting within the category team

• Conduct market research (suppliers, technologies, trends) to stay ahead

• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships

• Ensure compliance with sourcing procedures and contract management standards

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and innovation

What we're looking for

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics or Supply Chain Management

• You have minimum 10 years of experience in strategic purchasing, category or logistics management

• You bring proven experience in leading and coaching teams

• You have strong commercial and negotiation skills, with experience managing high-value contracts and supplier relationships

• Experience in maritime and/or civil infrastructure is a plus

• You combine a strategic mindset with a hands-on approach and are able to drive change

• You are a results-oriented team player with strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills

• You are familiar with procurement best practices and thrive in a dynamic, international environment

• You are fluent in English; Dutch or other languages are a plus
