Join a strategic journey to revolutionize our data infrastructure and make a tangible impact on our major projects.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst with expertise in reverse engineering data from datamarts and Power BI reports. This crucial role supports the strategic initiative to replace the current Data Vault, aiming to enhance our data infrastructure by improving traceability, quality, and efficiency.

About the role

In this position, you'll be instrumental in mapping data processing chains from Power BI visualizations back to datamarts and source databases. Your efforts will primarily focus on documenting, understanding, and refining existing data flows to ensure future resilience and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis of Power BI reports to extract semantic layer definitions, DAX expressions, transformation logic, and underlying data source configurations

  • Reverse-engineer data lineage from report visuals back to datamarts, staging layers, and relational database schemas

  • Produce comprehensive documentation detailing data models, transformation pipelines, and system dependencies across Power BI, ETL processes, datamarts, and source databases

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate data flows, ensure consistency, and identify opportunities for performance and structural optimization

  • Contribute to data governance initiatives by enforcing traceability, data quality standards, and compliance with GDPR and security protocols

  • Recommend enhancements to data modeling practices, DAX query efficiency, and report architecture for improved maintainability and responsiveness

  • Support the development of centralized repositories and technical documentation to ensure knowledge continuity and system transparency

  • Engage in migration and modernization efforts involving legacy systems, source platform transitions, and integration of new data sources

Job requirements

What we're looking for

  • University degree in computer science, data science, or related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar BI or data analysis role.

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI (DAX, models, paginated reports).

  • Strong experience in SQL and exploration of relational databases (SQL Server, Azure SQL).

  • Knowledge of BI concepts: Kimball, Data Vault.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex models and ETL flows.

  • Experience in technical and functional documentation.

  • Familiarity with GIT and collaborative development environments.

  • Analytical mindset, rigor, autonomy, and critical thinking.

  • Languages: French and/or Dutch native, with good level of the other language and English
