Embedded Platform Architect

As an Embedded Platform Architect, you will be a driving force in shaping the development of VeroTech’s next-generation console platform. Join us to define and implement cutting-edge software architectures for applications on the main board (embedded Linux), the power controller board, and auxiliary boards. Collaborate with an experienced software team to ensure that all system components and peripherals communicate securely, robustly, and scalably.

About the role

In this role, you'll take charge of the functional design of applications across multiple boards, determine security-focused inter-process and inter-board communication, and embed cyber resilience features like secure boot and update mechanisms. Additionally, you will contribute to the initial implementation in C++, help introduce advanced techniques and protocols, and provide insights to modernize and secure our software development processes.

Key responsibilities

• Functional design of applications on various boards.

• Definition and implementation of secure communication between processes and boards.

• Integration of cyber resilience features such as secure boot and update mechanisms.

• Initial implementation in C++ and recommendation of modern techniques and protocols.

• On-site presence in Kortrijk during initial project phases, with regular attendance throughout the project.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software architecture and development with proven experience, particularly on ARM-based platforms and embedded Linux. Key competencies include:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent experience.

• Strong proficiency in C++.

• Experience with microcontrollers, preferably TI Sitara and/or TI TIVA series.

• In-depth knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, USB, Ethernet, IPC).

• Experience with system security concepts, including secure boot and updates.

• Ability to architect complex embedded platforms.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in multidisciplinary team environments and leadership of less experienced engineers.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Commitment to on-site work in Kortrijk during the initial phase.
